Boundaries

At the June 15, 2009 meeting, the boundary was voted on by the residents of Shirley who were in attendance. The boundary runs from South of Sunrise Highway to Smith Point Beach and includes everyone who lives in the 11967 zip code that were not taken in by The Village of Mastic Beach. New York State allows us 5 square miles for a Village - our boundaries are 4.15 square miles. Pictures of the Boundary are shown below.  The areas in blue are the boundaries for The Village of Mastic Beach and the yellow areas are the Boundaries for Smith Point Village. The actual name of the Village will be voted on by the residents and may not be Smith Point. We have now begun the next step, the Census. Please feel free to e-mail us if you would like to help with the census or with any questions you may have concerning the boundaries at Smithpoint11967@aol.com

Full view

This is a full view of the boundaries, from north to south. We are including 150 feet into the bay and we are going half way up the Carmen's River to gain control of the DEC rights.

Northern View

This shows the northern part of the proposed boundary, as you can see it crosses over Montauk Highway and goes right up to the South Service Road of Sunrise. By doing this, we will be eligible for Business Revitalization Grants and other monies that can be used to make this area into a family friendly, clean and safe area to shop with your family. Wouldn't it be nice to pull off of Sunrise Highway right into your village?

Southern View

This is the southern view of the Boundary which will meet with Mastic Beach's western boundaries.
