10/25/09 HARVEST FESTIVAL
Despite having to use the rain date, we had another successful event. The weather was beautiful, the kids in their costumes were adorable and the chinese auction winners were happy! Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who worked so hard, to the new T-Mobile store on William Floyd Parkway who DJ'd, to all the sponsors who believe in what we are doing and to all the residents who helped make this another fun event.

9/27/09 Chinese Auction Fundraiser

We had a very successful Chinese Auction and people won some great stuff. We would like to thank all our local merchants who generously donated merchandise and a special thank you to Greg and Martha at Perfect Balance Massage Therapy for allowing us the use of their facility and their very generous donations of products and (2) one hour Swedish massages for the Chinese Auction! We had a great time and laughed a lot - another successful community event to help the village effort. Thank you to all who came and supported us and to our wonderful committee members and volunteers - we couldn't do any of this without you!

9/19/09 Yard Sale Fundraiser

We had a beautiful day for our yard sale and made $450 towards the village effort. As you can see by some of the pictures, not only did we work hard, but we had a lot of fun doing it. We'd like to thank all the wonderful residents who donated items for the yard sale and the hardworking committee members and volunteers who showed up to tag the night before and then came back the next day to work.

THE SPVEC END OF SUMMER FAIR
SUNDAY, AUGUST 30, 2009

Despite having to postpone the fair from Saturday to Sunday, the fair was very successful! The day started out cloudy with rain sprinkles and turned into a beautiful sunny day with enough breeze to take the edge off of the heat. We had the best volunteers - including teens who worked in the kids games doing face painting, temporary tattoos, bean bag toss and ring toss. We'd like to thank all our wonderful volunteers who gave up their Sunday to help with the fair, they made the day not only easier, but a lot of fun. We'd also like to say a special "Thank You" to McDonalds and Checkers who donated all the ice we needed!

8/20/09 Ground Breaking for the New Fishing Pier

Today was the ground breaking for the new fishing pier to be located in the Smith Point County park parking lot in the northeast corner. It will be 12 feet wide and 150 feet long going out into the bay. Steve Levy was present to do the ground breaking along with County Legislator Jack Eddington that handles the park. Steve Levy gave a nice speech on how this pier came to be built. The building will start Sept 1st of this year and is slated to be completed March of 2010. We appreciate County Executive Levy coming to our community and his assistance in adding additional services for the residents to enjoy.

7/19/09 YARD SALE FUNDRAISER

We tagged everything on Friday night and as you can see, there are really are some things you just shouldn't donate to a yard sale, lol. The day of the yare sale was sunny and beautiful with enough breeze to take the edge off of the heat. We started setting up at 7:00 am and were ready when people started arriving at 8:00. We received some wonderful items for the yardsale; a futon, Soloflex machine, bathroom vanity, glass storm door, ceiling fans, waffle maker, kitchen knife set, games, toys, adult and childrens clothing, deck stain, computer monitors, vcr, stereo tuner, bicycles, etc. Many items were very gently used or new, including clothing which still had the store tags on them.

SMITH POINT 1ST ANNUAL SPRING FAIR
SATURDAY, MAY 23,2009

The Smith Point 1st Annual Spring Fair held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 was a HUGE success. Although the day started out slightly cloudy and very windy, it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. There were 86 vendors selling a multitude of items. A very popular item was the dragon lizards that have no teeth or nails which make them a very "child friendly" pet. The band was really great and Balloon Bob was a big hit, making balloon animals and hats for all the kids. The kids had a lot of fun playing bean bag toss, balloon pop, ring toss, getting temporary tattoos and getting their faces painted. The Chinese Auction and Raffle were very popular, many great items were auctioned/raffled off and a lot of money was generated for the village fund.

We will be having another fair at the end of the summer and we know that it will be as successful as the Spring Fair was! We'd like to thank everyone who attended and supported our Fair as well as a special "Thank You" to all our wonderful volunteers, who worked very hard to make this Fair the success it was, we couldn't have done it without you! Chamber of Commerce 14th Annual Easter Egg Hunt
A wonderful day meeting new people - we handed out hundreds of meeting fliers and village packets. We signed up lots of volunteers, new committee members and received donations.

The Easter Bunny was there for pictures, there was an egg hunt, face painting, etc. The event was free to residents and the bicycles that were raffled away at the end of the event were donated by members of the Chamber of Commerce.
